Dear Lemon Grove Family,
by Calvin Manson
On Wednesday, my heart was full. I looked around and saw artists, dreamers, teachers, teenagers, and elders—people who believe in the power of imagination gathered right here in our city to breathe together, dream together, and open our minds to something larger than what we see today.
Together, we envisioned what Lemon Grove could become if its makers and storytellers work side by side to build a stronger, more beautiful community through the arts. Because collaboration is the key to creating an arts community that truly belongs to all of us.
All is possible. We can make this real.
So I ask you: When you walk out your front door, what do you see? And what do you dream of seeing?
Picture murals rising across brick walls. Sidewalks are alive with young musicians and children keeping time with a drum circle. Dancers moving in open courtyards. Elders share stories as painters capture their wisdom in vibrant color. Families gathering around pop-up performances that sound like hope.
Imagine visitors saying, “This place creates. This place welcomes. This place inspires.”
Imagine our young people not just watching art, but making it—telling their own stories with pride and confidence. Imagine art reshaping the way we see ourselves and what we believe is possible.
This is the Lemon Grove we are calling forth. Not someday, now.
A city where creativity is our language, our gathering place, and our promise to the future.
So I invite you: join us. Imagine with us. Walk out your front door and tell me how you see Lemon Grove as an arts community? I truly want to know. We ask for your voice, your vision, and your partnership as we build a Lemon Grove that reflects not just where we are, but who we can become when we create together.
All is possible. And together, we will make it so.
With hope and creativity,
A fellow artist of Lemon Grove
Our next meeting will be in January.
